NOTES ON MY CONNECTION WITH ARTHUR C. CLARKE

I didn’t know he had died until I picked up an issue of Time magazine in Hobart last month. He was THE sci-fi icon to me, his name being almost synonymous with “good” science-fiction literature in my mind. And the first thing that always came to mind when I thought of him was his work with Stanley Kubrick on the film 2001: A Space Odyssey, which is not only my favourite Kubrick film, and probably my favourite film of all (after Bambi and The Wizard of Oz, of course!), but also what I consider to be the best work of both of these minds…a uniquely synergic artistic masterpiece that expanded our horizons and still defies “understanding.”
Clarke himself was a little like the black monolith in 2001: a huge mathematically-proportioned presence from another dimension bringing “evolution” to the Earth…for better or worse!
Like the “overlords” in his novel Childhood’s End, he may have been merely a proxy for beings far greater than himself, just “doing his job” in a grand scheme beyond even his own comprehension; regardless, however, of some of the dark under-tones in his work, for example, The Songs of Distant Earth, I always considered his to be one of the best and most imaginative minds among those of homo sapiens.
People sometimes ask me how I “knew” Arthur C. Clarke when they see his name listed on my card as owning one of my hand-painted rocks. Here’s the story…
It all goes back to the dolphins. Around the time I quit college in 1978 and enrolled in a much larger “uni”…the “uni-verse”…I began to receive what has been a life-long “calling” to reach out to, communicate with, protect, and understand our friends the dolphins and whales.
This “calling” originally came to me through the work and writings of Dr. John C. Lilly, a brilliant and controversial “renaissance mind” of science whose background in neurobiology led him to the dolphins. I moved to California in 1980 to get involved with his dolphin communication work; my main angle was in the use of music as a form of communication.
What interested me most in Lilly’s thinking was that the cetaceans are a true “extra-terrestrial” intelligence (literally, “away from land”) who not only live on the same planet we do, but have done so for millions of years longer than us, in the ocean, without hands or external technology, with brains that are more highly evolved than ours. Lilly said basically that there was no way we could possibly hope to communicate with or understand true ‘alien’ beings from another planet or galaxy if we couldn’t even communicate with or understand highly intelligent beings from the same planet as ourselves.
Lilly was the only biologist at the first “Communication with Extraterrestrial Intelligence” conference in 1960, along with minds like physicist Philip Morrison; Bernard Oliver, vp of Hewlett-Packard; radio astronomer Frank Drake; and planetary scientist Carl Sagan.
This conference and Project Ozma which it spawned, were the origin of what is called “seti”, or the “search for extraterrestrial intelligence.” While most of the attention was on looking for and decoding “needle-in-a-haystack” electromagnetic signals from “out there”, Lilly was basically saying that we don’t need radio-telescopes to study “extraterrestrial intelligence”…they are already here in the ocean!
This revelation was a bit much for the hard-core technophiles who were fixated on the idea that any truly “advanced” intelligence would HAVE to be using powerful electronic technologies like our own; to think not only that true “e.t.’s” are already here, BUT also that we are not rolling our the “red carpet” of diplomacy nor “taking them to our leaders”…we are ruthlessly killing them for commercial purposes…was…UNTHINKABLE! Yet this in fact was the essence of Lilly’s message.
All of this resonated powerfully in the depths of my being. I first met dolphins in North Carolina and was overwhelmed by the “magic” of their energy; I moved to California and was actually “on-lab” on the day Joe and Rosie arrived at Lilly’s facility. They were two Atlantic bottle-nosed dolphins who had “volunteered” to be part of the project. Later on I was able not only to swim with them, but also to play some music to them as I swam. Lilly’s team had devised a state-of-the-art computer system which could do real-time frequency transforms of our sound range into theirs, and theirs into ours, with hydrophones in the water. I brought some recorded music by Pat Metheny and Ralph Towner; I got in the water with the dolphins and they started the music. I will never forget what happened next. As soon as the music started…I could hear it as well…the dolphins went into this kind of trance-like state where they stopped swimming and just floated there with this really blissful look in their eyes. I knew then that the stories from the ancient Greek philosophers were true…dolphins really do love music!!! I could see it in their eyes! It was as if they were feeling the music with their whole bodies.
I never really fit in with the Lilly group, for reasons I later came to understand; and Lilly himself, despite his profound contributions and awareness-work, began to violate THE most fundamental aspect of respect for fellow beings…they kept Joe and Rosie captive long after they said they would release them back where they came from. At this point Lilly was losing long-time friends and backers because of this. I could see that having the dolphins there was the group’s “ticket” to celebrity; tv crews and other media personnel were showing up every other day. I could also see that all this had nothing to do with understanding the dolphins, and was making them edgier as time went by.
From this experience I learned two major things: that dolphins love music, and that you can’t keep them captive for any reason.
In 1984 I came up with the “Cetacean/Arecibo Project”, which involved doing live musical “dialogues” with free-swimming cetaceans in the ocean and beaming it into space via radio-telescope using a network of computers and satellites. I created a flow-chart for the project and began to create lists of musicians who I’d like to have, as well as of various technical advisors in different areas.
In the course of exploring the radio-telescope connection and how I might get some time on a major “dish”, as well as technical advice on using one as a transmitter rather than a receiver, I contacted the SETI group of NASA, which was based at the Ames Air Force Base in Mountain View, CA, and became friends with Bob Arnold, their director of public relations.
Bob liked my project and shared a lot of information with me; he introduced me to Seth Shostak, director of the SETI group, and put me onto Frank Drake, creator of the famous “Drake equation.” And he invited me to a 1992 SETI ceremony at the Goldstone installation where I got to meet Carl Sagan. But this was the early 1990’s and the “radio-“ astronomy crowd still wasn’t ready to entertain seriously the idea that the cetaceans ARE a true “extra-terrestrial intelligence.”
Bob could sense my frustration; one day he said, “Jeff, you know who you need to talk to about your project? Arthur C. Clarke.”
I said, “ Hey that would be fantastic. You don’t know him, do you?”
“Not personally. But I can give you his mailing address in Sri Lanka.”
So I wrote a letter to Arthur C. Clarke explaining my background and this and other things I was involved with. I sent him a hand-painted rock and a t-shirt with the “Cetacean/Arecibo Project” flow-chart on it. I also mentioned the work of Roger Payne, who was the first to record humpback whale sounds in the 1960’s, and told him that Carl Sagan had been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia and was hospitalised. This was 1995.
A few weeks later I was truly surprised to receive a letter back from him. Attached are the pages of that letter. It was a form letter telling of his recent journeys and on-going projects, but it had some hand-written notes to me. Most importantly, his phone number was on it, so I rang him up.
A very polite Indian-sounding voice answered the phone, saying this was Arthur C. Clarke’s residence, and who was I. I said, “This is Jeff Phillips calling from Boulder, Colorado. Is Arthur available?”
After a minute or so he picked up the phone. His first words were, “Ah…Jeff Phillips. Good to hear from you. I want to thank you for the painted rock and the t-shirt…”
I was blown away! Here I was talking with the leading science-fiction writer of the 20th century and he was thanking me!!!
We talked for about 45 minutes. This was before the day of 8-cent-per-minute international calls…I think it cost me about $50usd! A bargain at any price! We talked about all kinds of stuff. First he told me that he personally responds to EVERY SINGLE PIECE of mail he gets…which was voluminous…and that this alone takes a lot of his time, but he took his supporters seriously. He asked me how Sagan was doing…I told him his condition appeared to be worsening. We talked about my project and a lot of technical stuff. He said that he would be happy to be a technical advisor. I asked him what he thought of my article that had been recently published by Ad-busters magazine called “The Age of Infotoxin”, about the weaponization of communication and the pollution of our mental environment. He loved it and agreed that we had serious problems here. But he also emphasized that, in his thinking, it was better to have created the technologies of communication, with ALL that it has brought, as opposed to having never created them at all. This gave me a lot of food for thought. In fact, I’m still thinking about it about it 13 years later!
I spoke with him again a few months later, but then we dropped out of touch. It was a very cool connection to have made.
And the “Cetacean/Arecibo Project” got shelved, not because of lack of interest on my part, but because I realized that what musician Ralph Towner told me in an interview I did with him in 1990 was true. Ralph had long been my very favourite of human musicians, and I liked to tell people that if planet Earth needed one person to represent “us”, Ralph and his guitar should do it. And it was some of his music that I first played to the dolphins in Redwood City that day. I had been telling Ralph about the project, and he said he would be honoured to participate. Then he added, “But you know, Jeff, we should really leave those people alone.”
His words have echoed in my mind ever since. Without even thinking about it, he referred to them as “people.”
It’s weird…in today’s world, it seems to me that the whales and dolphins are truly acting more like real “people” than we are. And they wouldn't possibly be able to respond to our music while they're being harpooned, drift-netted, and blasted by naval sonar!!!
But this is another story, and one that I will soon be telling.
I would like to thank Arthur C. Clarke for his immense and creative contributions to the human endeavour, for taking the time to talk with me, and for inspiring me. His work is a testament to the most fundamental belief held by Albert Einstein:
“Imagination is more important than knowledge.”
“Imagination is more important than knowledge.”
And I may be the only person ever to get him "stoned"...legally, that is!

Greetings! Today seems like a good day to bring more fully on-line what it is that I am really all about. As an artist and musician I love the beauty of nature and the wonders of the cosmos; but as a planetary citizen and free-lance intelligence agent I am deeply concerned about the current global scenario for life as we know it.
Because of our long-term lack of education, aversion to “heavy” matters, and the pervasiveness of “mental genetics” and the infotoxin (1) syndrome, as well as my desire not only to be informed but to have well-informed friends…who make better crew members for Spaceship Earth than sleep-walkers…I spend a lot of time and energy trying to increase the resolution of my “big picture” and on sharing what I find.
This is the purpose of my “synthaissance” e-group. I am the first to say that, yes, I do send out a lot of “heavy” stuff, i.e., stuff the “normal mind” does not usually want to hear much about. You know, like the dangers of the nuclear scenario, the DU babies, the saturation of industrialized nations with broad-band toxicities and zombie fields, genetically engineered politicians (“Heil Arnie!”) and depleted intelligence munitions [dims] (“And now join us tonight for…National Security Idol!!!”) (2) The horror of what is happening with the cetaceans. As you know…the list goes on.
Mass-media in general does not cover these issues in any kind of meaningful or effective way; if they are mentioned at all, it is with acute spin and “perception management” doctoring. The “news”, moreover, is little more than images of “important people talking to other important people”, presumably about important matters that only they comprehend; the daily ration of the “Muslim terrorist” threat/”war on terrorism” advert; and anything that is either bleeding, dying, both, or dead. Sorry folks but “That’s the way it is…”
I sometimes get blamed for being the “harbinger of heaviness”…not only do I network actively but also, in personal encounters, I will bring up and try to discuss matters that many people simply don’t want to hear about. And I don’t mean that their team lost in the latest match; I’m talking about stuff that affects all life as we know it on this planet!!!
Forgive me everyone!!! I’m just trying to compensate for what mass-media in general is lacking. Maybe I should integrate it all into a “comedy” routine like the brilliant Bill Hicks!!! (3)
But WHAT I’M REALLY ALL ABOUT IS THIS: we ARE the ultimate technology!!!!!
It’s quite empowering actually.
This may be the single most important idea you will consider; it is no less than a true revelation of immense magnitude…yet simple and obvious once you think about it.
What’s more…unlike What the Bleep Do We Know and The Secret…the “ultimate technology” is just that: an idea, an outlook, a way of looking at yourself and your fellow life-forms. It’s not a new-age marketing scheme, a pyramidal metaphysical-Amway™ scam, nor is it wealthy-looking gurus, seated in comfortable chairs, with very white teeth assuring you that “reality” is whatever you wish it to be.
The “ultimate technology”, being an idea, cannot be sold or marketed; excusez-moi, mais, au contraire, mes amies…YOU ALREADY HAVE IT! YOU ALREADY ARE IT!!! IT’S FREE…IT’S NOW…IT’S IN YOU!!!
All you have to do is be aware of it and it becomes operational…it’s an “awareness activated” software environment. Your thought, your awareness of any certain level or sub-system automatically activates that level or sub-system and puts it at your conscious command, unless it is a level or sub-system that is already functioning properly.
But think for a moment about everything in you…in your mind, brain and body…that is already automatically functioning…almost everything!!!
To me, THIS IS MIRACULOUS!!!
So this is what I am really all about. Realizing that we ARE the ultimate technology…that ALL life-forms are the ultimate technology…will lead to an exponentially increasing awareness curve growing in proportion to the number of minds who choose to create and implement customized internal software, for example, “creativity enhancement algorithms.”
As the network of bio-noonic (4) interconnection grows in breadth, depth and resolution, each of our own awarenesses will expand to encompass a greater horizon of identity, i.e., what we think of as “ourself.”
Eventually we may realize that we ARE the Earth.
The Ultimate Technology Project (5) is about awakening our latent potentials and bringing on-line literally myriads of amazing abilities that we already have; even more importantly, this project is dedicated to fostering creative thought and imagination, in the individual and in the human mind, in the service of life and love.

"WHO ARE THE CETACEANS?" JEFF PHILLIPS
A few years ago I was talking with musician Ralph Towner about doing live musical dialogues with whales from boats and beaming it into space via radio-telescope. He thought the project was interesting, but his immediate comment was that "we should really leave those people alone."
To me, the cetaceans as a whole possess not only the full spectrum of attributes which humans have traditionally reserved exclusively for ourselves, including self-awareness, but beyond these they show through the example of how they live an "intelligence" more highly-evolved than that of "man, the wise."
The cetaceans, for example, are far more perfectly adapted to their environment than we are ours; and they live in the sea, which not only covers 70% of the Earth's surface and enables relative freedom from gravity as well as self-locomotion in three dimensions, but is also a much more stable environment than land and provides protection during periods of cosmic energy bombardment.
We don't really know all that much about their inner experience mainly because we haven't bridged the physical communication barrier, but I think that it is likely that they are capable of all endeavours that indigenous humans participate in, for example, advanced knowledge of astronomy and cycles of time, knowledge of the sun and planets, mapping the ocean and sky, knowledge of plants and foods, oral histories shared from memory, spiritual psychologies, a sense of the sacred in their lives, and music.
They are gifted with "internal technologies" much the same as we have been; yet I believe they have developed theirs much more fully than we have, as we have been distracted by a full spectrum of external hardware and extra-somatic artifacts which seem ultimately to be our down-fall.
Our most highly advanced external technologies are used in the service of killing; not only do cetaceans not kill members of their own species, they show a profound deference for "man, the wise" even in the face of repeated abuse on our part. Dolphins have been known to go to great lengths to assist humans in distress; and Capt. Paul Watson's (a founder of Greenpeace and currently Sea Shepherd) life was changed from momentary eye-contact with a breaching cachelot who was about to crush his dingy and then rolled to spare him.
Greek naturalist Pliny the Elder said he believed that dolphins were capable of something that even humanity had not attained: "friendship for no advantage."
The cetaceans have been on the same planet as us, with neurobiological systems more highly evolved than ours, for tens of millions of years. "Man, the wise" only came to be about a million years ago. That they live in tune with the Earth is an understatement.
I think we are living on their planet. "Man, the wise" is wreaking catastrophe upon catastrophe not only on the cetaceans, but on the Earth as a whole. We are destroying in years what Mother Nature has taken billions of years to create and bring to fruition.
That we do not recognize the cetaceans as fellow beings is a testament to our blindness, our unwillingness to open our hearts and minds to who they really are.
I do not think that humanity is innately dysfunctional; but in our present condition of amplified koyaanisqatsi, we as a whole are no longer "people" but have become the HSMV, or "homo sapiens macro virus."
I think that the word "people" should be reserved for those who act like real people�and in the homo sapiens population, these are few and far between!
The cetaceans are the REAL PEOPLE of planet Earth!!!
John Lilly believed that if we couldn't even learn to communicate with fellow intelligences possessing similar neurobiology and living on the same planet, there was no way we could hope to communicate with beings from other worlds.
If the remnant of "real people" in the human population got together and made a huge effort to reach out to the cetaceans and attempted a quantum leap in our abilities truly to understand and communicate, we might actually become more than we have ever been...not only "real" people but for the first time, the actual "crew" of Spaceship Earth!

STUPA STAR-TRAIL/HUNAB KU HUIFE CHILE
This photo is approximately 20 minutes, using Kodak ASA 400 print film, and a Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 lens at f/4. The white cloudy area is the Milky way, and the brightest region is the center of the galaxy, what the Mayans call the "Hunab Ku", the "one giver of life and movement." This region is where the constellations Scorpio and Sagittarious meet. The dome of the stupa is illuminated by light from our camp-fire. The Tibetan Buddhists built this stupa here because they intuit that in this area is a major planetary energy vortex; with the reversal of the Earth's magnetic fields happening, the power spots of the northern hemisphere are shifting to the south. South-central Chile IS an immensely powerful place; Huife, where this stupa is located, is only 30 kms from the Rucapillan volcano, the third most active in the world.

"Stupa-fied in Pucon/Climbing Volcan Rucapillan" JEFF PHILLIPS
GREETINGS! My visit to southern Chile is coming to a close, as I prepare to head to the far north in about three days, to experience the high altiplano around San Pedro de Atacama.
I have been living here in Pucon for about three months...it has been an EXTREMELY productive and spiritually enchanted time for me. The town is actually on the outer lava-flow perimeter of the Villarica volcano, or "Rucapillan' as it is called by the indigenous Mapuche peoples from here, meaning "house of God." She is the most active volcano in South America, and the third most active in the world.
From the beginning I could feel the spiritual power of this wonderful place; then I started hearing from people that many regard this area as one of the most powerful spiritual vortices on the Earth right now. I can feel it.
I learned that some Tibetan Buddhist monks built a huge stupa about 25 kms out of town, because they understand the power of this area. Last weekend my friend Paola and I went to the stupa three days in a row, to meditate, to be with the stupa and the trees and energies there; and I did some radically cool photography, not only of Rucapillan in the distance but also some time-exposures of the Milky Way, and one of the Hunab Ku (Mayan for the center of the galaxy, can be seen as a bright patch between the tail of Scorpio and Sagittarius...it's almost directly overhead in the skies here just after sunset) and the silhouette of the stupa! In the warmer months the monks come and live there; right now, some people come to meditate on the full moon, but other than that, it's just sitting there all alone, bringing down cosmic healing vibrations into a very special place on Earth!
Yesterday I finally got to climb Rucapillan, and it was fantastic. It's about 14 kms of walking over snow and ice, climbing about 1500m on foot. The day was warm but at the higher elevations (the crater rim is at 2847m, or 9340 ft) the wind was high. I think we all got noticeable wind-burn!
We couldn't see any lava, but the sulfuric smoke was constant, and at one point a bunch of ash came flying out, resembling a flock of bats!
I love volcanoes. They are very special places in terms of the Earth. And they are very powerful places, geologically, geomagnetically, and spiritually. Chile has well over 2,000 volcanoes, and 55 of them are classified as active.
Chile has around 10% of all the volcanoes in the world! Almost all of them are stratovolcanoes, and the highest one is Ojos del Salado at 6887m, or 22,600 ft. Its last major eruption was around 1000 years ago. It is almost as tall as Aconcagua, the highest mountain in South America.
Anyway, these photos are not my own, as I am waiting until I return to NZ to get my film processed. One and five are from the web, and the center three are post-card scans!
During my time here I have felt immensely loved by Mother Earth; in my meditations at the stupa, with the Hunab Ku, with the sacred Auracaria trees, the waters, the Gondwanaland energies, and in my relationship with the lovely and powerful volcanoes and the double rainbows, I have given many thanks for the gift of life we all share, and I have asked for guidance and inspiration to do all that I can do here in the final days of industrial civilization...and I have asked for my fellow humans please to wake up before it's too late. Extreme Earth changes are already upon us, and what are we doing?

Electric universe theorist Michael Armstrong told me that "Stupas were originally the inverse image of the polar configuration in the sky, correct in detail as to scale and even color...The original stupas were reverse-oriented scale models of the planets lined up as they were presented in "Remembering" [...the End of the World"] Saturn was a large golden hemisphere as the base with a narrow pyramid with the blue-green Venus on top with another pyramid with a red Mars on top of that. Looking at it from the top down you would see what the ancients saw in the sky. This is what we call the "polar configuration". The originals also had the 56 bright Birkeland current spots encircling the whole arrangement, which were represented by 56 pillars surrounding the structure. What with 3 million stupas in the world today, the later builders have lost the original significance, and the design has "drifted" from the precise original form because the builders have lost the knowledge of what they represented. However, the basic elements of the form are always included. Many domed capitol buildings have the same form with a collonade of pillars and Venus atop a pyramid.

I have been living here in Pucon for about three months...it has been an EXTREMELY productive and spiritually enchanted time for me. The town is actually on the outer lava-flow perimeter of the Villarica volcano, or "Rucapillan' as it is called by the indigenous Mapuche peoples from here, meaning "house of God." She is the most active volcano in South America, and the third most active in the world.
From the beginning I could feel the spiritual power of this wonderful place; then I started hearing from people that many regard this area as one of the most powerful spiritual vortices on the Earth right now. I can feel it.

PART ONE: INTRODUCTION
“It’s a viciously worsening cycle of what would appear to be unquenchable blood-thirsty slaughter in the service of pathological madness on the part of a tiny group of powerful “leaders” accompanied by the passive acquiescence of a dumbed-down public.”
Today is the 61st anniversary of the Hiroshima nuclear detonation. On this day in 1945 a B-29 called the “Enola Gay” dropped the “Little Boy” atomic bomb on a large Japanese city which was both a strategic military outpost and a major population center. Over a hundred thousand people were instantly incinerated and the entire area was reduced to radioactive rubble. Three days later another Japanese city, Nagasaki, was similarly destroyed. The “success” of these attacks thus began what Jose Arguelles calls the “age of atomic terror.” 1
As of now, six decades later, no other population centers have been destroyed by atomic bombs. On the surface, we seem to have been spared the fate of nuclear annihilation. “Mutually Assured Destruction” and the Dr. Strangelove scenario have failed to materialize.
But in the same way that lethal levels of ionising radiation are undetectable by our biological sensory systems, the actual nuclear scenario has metastasized exponentially beneath the “radar” of our collective awareness 2. Moreover, our entire worldview has been manipulated so thoroughly that what we think of as “reality” bears little resemblance to what is actually going on.
As nuclear weapons were coming into being, so was television, which psychological warfare experts called “the atomic bomb of the mind.” With the age of “atomic terror” came a new paradigm of socio-political control, what researcher Christopher Simpson refers to as a form of “mental genetics”, focussing on creating a whole generation of “consumers” feeding on the “American dream”; advertising and psychological warfare fused to create a monstrous “hallucination engine” designed to distract and manipulate our minds, under the guise of “information” and “entertainment.” The system was designed from its inception to indoctrinate people into uncritical assimilation of its “truth”, so that, when the time came, the people as a whole would readily accept a completely fabricated “reality” with no questions asked. Hence 9/11…a textbook “psychological operation” on the order of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the “trigger” event to launch the implementation of a global “scientific dictatorship” by the illegally-installed and Zionist-influenced “neo-conservative” Bush administration and its “new world order” hydra. Who is their “enemy”? Communism? Islam? Extra-terrestrials? No…the REAL enemies are the Earth and the people…US.3
Since this new “reign of terror” began, we have witnessed and continue to witness repeated “wars of aggression” based on premises which are known to be completely false and/or fabricated, and which are also known to have been planned for years ahead of time. “Wars of aggression” are war crimes under the protocols of international law. In this same period, we have experienced and are experiencing unprecedented levels of infotoxicity 4 in our mental environment…a full-spectrum attack of cognitive phlegm and incredulous hyper-propaganda that would probably make Goebbels die laughing, were he here to witness it.
Today we watch in what may not be “horror” so much as it is “psychic numbness”, as a military-industrial juggernaut calling itself “America” wages “silent genocide” on the people of Afghanistan and Iraq in the form of DU. “Depleted uranium”…an Orwellian euphemism for a form of radiological warfare which distributes thousands of tons of highly radioactive dust into the environment, causes cancer and genetic damage in anyone who comes near it, and remains at carcinogenic and mutagenic levels for tens of thousands of years. It is quite literally warfare against life as we know it.5
And at this exact moment, the world grows angrier by the minute at another rogue terrorist state calling itself a “democracy”…Israel…as its military leaders order the deployment not only of even more DU weaponry but also prepare to use “bunker buster” missiles, which are essentially DU-based tactical nuclear weapons.6
Lebanon and Israel share a geographical border; they are next-door neighbours. Unlike “America’s” use of DU in Iraq and Afghanistan, where the highest concentrations of radioactive materials are released thousands of miles from the “fatherland”, Israel’s use of DU is literally in their own back yard. The military decision-makers have to know this; the direct and immediate result is that air- and water-borne DU released in Lebanon will rapidly make its way into Israel, to create an epidemic of cancer, birth defects and “Gulf war syndrome” just like in American and Iraqi veterans and civilians.7
This marks a new level of warfare: genocide that is simultaneously suicide. That the use of DU is not the equivalent of, but a level of technological innovation beyond, the ovens of Auschwitz and Dachau cannot be denied; that it is being deployed by decision-makers who share a heavy Zionist influence is pathologically ironic.
Israel is unofficially recognized as the fourth or fifth largest nuclear power in the world. I was not there to witness the “holocaust”, but I believe it happened; I have not witnessed a nuclear explosion, but I believe these weapons are real. I think it wise to consider that decision-makers who release DU in their own back yard would not hesitate to precipitate a nuclear first-strike.
While we have been busily building bigger houses, driving bigger cars and acquiring limitless wealth and possessions, the Earth and all of her children have been suffering in direct proportion to our greed and ignorance. We have not noticed the gradual transformation of our beautiful natural environment into a planetary waste-land because, as a whole, we are no longer in touch with the Earth as we are embedded in an artificial environment, a “matrix”, consisting of house, car and television, agendas of financial gain and property acquisition. We have become deaf to the cries and screams of our fellow beings, our planet.
Our perceptions have been managed, our consent engineered, our reality manipulated very successfully, to become precisely what the forces of global fascism, literally, “a complete merger of state and corporate power” 8 have long sought: we have become their product.
And like any product, planned obsolescence is inherent. We have served their purposes of functioning essentially as voluntary slaves to the mega-machine for decades, working to build their industrial and weapons systems thinking it was just our “job”, and enriching their coffers not only with the fruits of our own sweat and blood, but also the health and existence of the Earth and all children, ours and hers. We have bought into the paradigms of greed and denial, and now our time has come.
From the perspective of the “powers that be”, not only are “we, the people” no longer necessary, we are actually an impediment to imperial mobilization.9 Our numbers are too large; we are not only consuming precious resources and taking up space that could be “redeveloped”, we wield far too much power…mentally, physically, politically, spiritually. Now we must be destroyed utterly and completely, through sheer elimination or mutogenesis into something we cannot imagine.
The “wars” in Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon, as horrific as they are, are more about strategic control, psychological impact and long-standing cultural animosities than they are about large-scale devastation; that this could be looming on the horizon cannot be written off as “doom-saying.”
For a long time, moreover, the “new world order” has been administering “non-lethal genocide”, using advanced “safe and clean” weapons systems with harmless-sounding acronyms like DU (depleted uranium), GE (genetic engineering), HAARP (High-Altitude Auroral Research Project) and TV (television). The chemical and pharmaceutical industries play a big role, as well. Although each of these has been well-documented as the weapons systems they truly are, they remain essentially invisible in the public eye. You cannot sense DU; you cannot feel the electromagnetic fields from a HAARP transmission; you cannot taste GE food; and we think that TV is entertainment, and mobile phones are convenient. Sadly,many people shrug this information off as “paranoid conspiracy theory rambling.” 10
And when “we, the people” start waking up a little and catching on to the next level of what is actually happening, whether it be, for example, another dimension of the weaponization scenario, election fraud, carcinogenic food or revelations on “9/11 reality”…they go to the next step in their “master plan” by staging or committing another atrocity to capture our attention, “shock and awe” us, sap our will, make us cower in fear. Good old “blowing stuff up”…you know, “traditional” warfare, with artillery, tanks, bombs, missiles, destroyed infrastructures, bodies to dispose of, environmental devastation…accomplishes this pretty well, especially when it all is broadcast 24-7 on mainstream tv.

And this is just what man-“kind” is doing to himself. We often forget…indeed, it’s almost not in our “reality” any more…that we…you know, homo sapiens, “man, the wise”…are not the only form of life on the Earth who matters.
Chief Seattle said that “what we do to the Earth, we do to ourselves.” We are all inter-connected in the web of life…bacteria, molluscs, aardvarks, hippopotami, condors, oak trees, kelp…ALL life is part of one huge exquisite living system. Some call her Gaia.
“What comes around goes around.” We reap what we sew, and are responsible for the consequences of our choices and actions. This is the essence of the spiritual concept of karma.
And Spaceship Earth and our solar system do not exist in a cosmic vacuum; indigenous wisdom tells us of long-term cycles…”seasons” on inter-stellar and galactic levels based on spatio-temporal as well as energetic variations and radiations.
As I see it, what we are experiencing now is a convergence of these three dimensions: our existence as a threat to the health of the larger living system we are a part of; the summation of the karmic consequences of our actions/inactions, our choices, our denial, our ignorance; and our location in larger cosmic contexts of cyclical and energetic influences.
It might be “human nature” to be experiencing all of this, but it’s not by any means the full spectrum of who and what we are; on the contrary, we find ourselves at a major cross-roads, a global “day of reckoning”…but it is ultimately a planetary initiation for “man, the wise.”
We are quite literally at what Fritjof Capra calls “the turning point.” Which way it all goes is up to us…we are not mere observers of a grand drama, we are each participants, co-creators of “reality.”
In part two I will look at what “war” actually is, psychologically, socially, and ecologically, and in part three I will offer some ideas concerning what we can do about it.
To me, the overall scenario is not as dire as it may seem; it’s just that we have to act NOW.

Now we must be destroyed utterly and completely, through sheer elimination or mutogenesis into something we cannot imagine.
The “wars” in Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon, as horrific as they are, are more about strategic control, psychological impact and long-standing cultural animosities than they are about large-scale devastation; that this could be looming on the horizon cannot be written off as “doom-saying.”
For a long time, moreover, the “new world order” has been administering “non-lethal genocide”, using advanced “safe and clean” weapons systems with harmless-sounding acronyms like DU (depleted uranium), GE (genetic engineering), HAARP (High-Altitude Auroral Research Project) and TV (television). The chemical and pharmaceutical industries play a big role, as well. Although each of these has been well-documented as the weapons systems they truly are, they remain essentially invisible in the public eye. You cannot sense DU; you cannot feel the electromagnetic fields from a HAARP transmission; you cannot taste GE food; and we think that TV is entertainment, and mobile phones are convenient. Sadly,many people shrug this information off as “paranoid conspiracy theory rambling.” 10
And when “we, the people” start waking up a little and catching on to the next level of what is actually happening, whether it be, for example, another dimension of the weaponization scenario, election fraud, carcinogenic food or revelations on “9/11 reality”…they go to the next step in their “master plan” by staging or committing another atrocity to capture our attention, “shock and awe” us, sap our will, make us cower in fear. Good old “blowing stuff up”…you know, “traditional” warfare, with artillery, tanks, bombs, missiles, destroyed infrastructures, bodies to dispose of, environmental devastation…accomplishes this pretty well, especially when it all is broadcast 24-7 on mainstream tv.
It’s a viciously worsening cycle of what would appear to be unquenchable blood-thirsty slaughter in the service of pathological madness on the part of a tiny group of powerful “leaders” accompanied by the passive acquiescence of a dumbed-down public.
And this is just what man-“kind” is doing to himself. We often forget…indeed, it’s almost not in our “reality” any more…that we…you know, homo sapiens, “man, the wise”…are not the only form of life on the Earth who matters.
Chief Seattle said that “what we do to the Earth, we do to ourselves.” We are all inter-connected in the web of life…bacteria, molluscs, aardvarks, hippopotami, condors, oak trees, kelp…ALL life is part of one huge exquisite living system. Some call her Gaia.
“What comes around goes around.” We reap what we sew, and are responsible for the consequences of our choices and actions. This is the essence of the spiritual concept of karma.
And Spaceship Earth and our solar system do not exist in a cosmic vacuum; indigenous wisdom tells us of long-term cycles…”seasons” on inter-stellar and galactic levels based on spatio-temporal as well as energetic variations and radiations.
As I see it, what we are experiencing now is a convergence of these three dimensions: our existence as a threat to the health of the larger living system we are a part of; the summation of the karmic consequences of our actions/inactions, our choices, our denial, our ignorance; and our location in larger cosmic contexts of cyclical and energetic influences.
It might be “human nature” to be experiencing all of this, but it’s not by any means the full spectrum of who and what we are; on the contrary, we find ourselves at a major cross-roads, a global “day of reckoning”…but it is ultimately a planetary initiation for “man, the wise.”
We are quite literally at what Fritjof Capra calls “the turning point.” Which way it all goes is up to us…we are not mere observers of a grand drama, we are each participants, co-creators of “reality.”
In part two I will look at what “war” actually is, psychologically, socially, and ecologically, and in part three I will offer some ideas concerning what we can do about it.
To me, the overall scenario is not as dire as it may seem; it’s just that we have to act NOW.

The delivery of at least 100 GBU 28 bunker busters bombs containing depleted uranium warheads by the United States to Israel for use against targets in Lebanon will result in additional radioactive and chemical toxic contamination with consequent adverse health and environmental effects throughout the Middle East. Israeli tank gunners are also using depleted uranium tank rounds as photographs verify.
Today, U.S., British, and now Israeli military personnel are using illegal
uranium munitions - America's and England's own "dirty bombs" while U.S. Army,
U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Defense, and British Ministry of
Defence officials deny that there are any adverse health and environmental
effects as a consequence of the manufacture, testing, and/or use of uranium
munitions, to avoid liability for the willful and illegal dispersal of a
radioactive toxic material - depleted uranium.
The use of uranium weapons is absolutely unacceptable, and a crime against
humanity. Consequently, the citizens of the world and all governments must force cessation of uranium weapons use. I must demand that Israel now provide medical care to all DU casualties in Lebanon and clean up all DU contamination.
U.S. and British officials have arrogantly refused to comply with their own
regulations, orders and directives that require United States Department of
Defense officials to provide prompt and effective medical care to "all" exposed

Exposed to Depleted Uranium (DU) Headquarters, U.S. Army Medical Command 29 April 2004, and section 2-5 of U.S. Army Regulation 700-48. Israeli officials
must not do so now.
They also refuse to clean up dispersed radioactive Contamination as required by
Army Regulation - AR 700-48: "Management of Equipment Contaminated With Depleted Uranium or Radioactive Commodities" (Headquarters, Department Of The Army, Washington, D.C., September 2002) and U.S. Army Technical Bulletin- TB 9-1300-278: "Guidelines For Safe Response To Handling, Storage, And Transportation Accidents Involving Army Tank Munitions Or Armor Which Contain Depleted Uranium" (Headquarters, Department Of The Army, Washington, D.C., JULY 1996).
Specifically, section 2-4 of United States Army Regulation-AR 700-48 dated
September 16, 2002 requires that:
(1) "Military personnel "identify, segregate, isolate, secure, and label all RCE" (radiologically contaminated equipment).
(2) "Procedures to minimize the spread of radioactivity will be implemented as
soon as possible."
(3) "Radioactive material and waste will not be locally disposed of through burial, submersion, incineration, destruction in place, or abandonment" and
(4) "All equipment, to include captured or combat RCE, will be surveyed,
packaged, retrograded, decontaminated and released IAW Technical Bulletin
9-1300-278, DA PAM 700-48" (Note: Maximum exposure limits are specified in
Appendix F).
The previous and current use of uranium weapons, the release of radioactive
components in destroyed U.S. and foreign military equipment and releases of
industrial, medical, research facility radioactive materials have resulted in
unacceptable exposures. Therefore, decontamination must be completed, as
required by U.S. Army Regulation 700-48 and should include releases of all
radioactive materials resulting from military operations.
The extent of adverse health and environmental effects of uranium weapons
contamination is not limited to combat zones but includes facilities and sites
where uranium weapons were manufactured or tested including Vieques, Puerto
Rico; Colonie, New York; Concord, MA; Jefferson Proving Grounds, Indiana; and
Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. Therefore medical care must be provided by the
United States Department of Defense officials to all individuals affected by the
manufacturing, testing, and/or use of uranium munitions. Thorough environmental
remediation also must be completed without further delay.
I am amazed that fifteen years after I was asked to clean up the initial DU mess
from Gulf War 1 and over ten years since I finished the depleted uranium
project, that United States Department of Defense officials and others still
attempt to justify uranium munitions use while ignoring mandatory requirements.
I am dismayed that Department of Defense and Department of Energy officials and representatives continue personal attacks aimed to silence or discredit those of us who are demanding that medical care be provided to all DU casualties and that environmental remediation is completed in compliance with U.S. Army Regulation 700-48. consideration of protective actions. Use of an RDD or IND is an act of terror
that produces a radiological incident."
Thus the use of uranium munitions is "an act or terror" as defined by DHS.
Finally, continued compliance with the infamous March 1991 Los Alamos Memorandum that was issued to ensure continued use of uranium munitions can not be justified.
In conclusion: the President of the United States - George W. Bush, the Prime
Minister of Great Britain - Tony Blair, and the Prime Minister of Israel - Ehud
Olmert must acknowledge and accept responsibility for willful use of illegal
uranium munitions - their own "dirty bombs" - resulting in adverse health and
environmental effects.
